Yin's ultimate can no longer be interrupted by CC (except suppression). S1 auto-lock removed, cooldown slashed to ~1.5s after the skill ends, slow cut 75% → 40%. Burst-assassin → sustained-fighter pivot.
Argus nerfed — passive damage 100 → 65 + much weaker regen, slower S2, ult heals only off hero damage (no more minion/jungle sustain). Upside: active ult cast = -30% cooldown.
Ruby nerfed — spell vamp ratio cut, ult bonus scaling 300 → 200. The 2.1.78 sustain rebuild gets pulled back.
Balmond spin damage up. Aulus maxes Fighting Spirit at 4 stacks instead of 6 (but loses ult control-immunity). Harley S1 card damage trimmed at all levels.
New control settings: adjustable skill-wheel size + a release dead-zone (inside = auto-cast, outside = manual cast).
Sourcing & caveats
⚠️ Advanced Server only. None of this is live yet. Numbers can — and often do — shift before global release. Treat this as a preview, not a guide.
This is a later iteration than 2.1.78, not a replacement. 2.1.78 revamped Argus and Ruby; 2.1.80 tunes those revamps back down (Argus passive 100→65, Ruby ult scaling 300→200) and adds a brand-new roaming-tank durability sweep. The Masha/Hirara reworks and the support mana-economy pass from 2.1.78 are not re-listed here — they carry forward untouched.
Status & how this relates to 2.1.78
Kazuki explicitly tags this pass 2.1.80 on the advanced server. Elgin covers the same set of changes without naming the number; the two transcripts line up cleanly, so the patch identity is solid.
This is a strictly later iteration than 2.1.78. The discriminator: 2.1.80 nerfs the very revamps 2.1.78 introduced — it takes the post-revamp Argus passive (which 2.1.78 had already moved 180 → 100) down further to 65, and pulls Ruby's ult bonus scaling 300 → 200. There is no Masha, Hirara, or support mana-economy content in 2.1.80 — those 2.1.78 changes are untouched and still tracked in the 2.1.78 digest. Read the two together: 2.1.78 is the big-rework pass, 2.1.80 is the tuning + new-tank-content pass layered on top.
None of this is live. Expect at least one more iteration before global ship.
Yin — the headline change
Both sources lead with Yin. The intent is an identity shift: from burst assassin toward a sustained-swinging fighter.
| Change | Direction |
|---|---|
| Ult can no longer be interrupted by crowd control while casting — except suppression | ⬆️ huge |
| Caveat: if Yin was already controlled before entering the domain, that control persists inside (no retroactive immunity) | clarification |
| S1 auto-lock on nearby enemies removed (more manual aim) | ⬇️ control |
| S1 cooldown massively reduced — ~1.5s after the skill ends (Kazuki cites a 20s→14s history before this) | ⬆️ |
| S1 slow 75% → 40% | ⬇️ |
"His ultimate can no longer be interrupted by crowd control effects while casting, except for suppression. But if Yin was already controlled before entering the domain, he will still be controlled after entering." — Elgin
Read: the un-interruptible ult is the big one. Yin's whole weakness was getting CC'd out of the domain pull — that's mostly gone now (suppression from Franco/Khufra/Martis still works). The shorter S1 cooldown plus the lost auto-lock and weaker slow point at a more mechanically demanding, sustained-fighter Yin rather than a one-combo deleter.
Argus & Ruby — reined back in
Both heroes were the big winners of 2.1.78. 2.1.80 walks them back.
Argus (nerf)
- Passive (Demonic Slay) base damage 100 → 65, and passive regen heavily reduced — far weaker early-mid sustain and trading.
- S2 attack-speed ramp slowed + base damage reduced.
- S1 slow moved from the second cast to the first cast (better initial catch — Elgin's detail).
- Ult upside: actively casting it immediately reduces its cooldown by 30%.
- Ult nerf: only damage dealt to heroes during the ult converts to HP — minion/jungle damage no longer heals.
"Only damage dealt to heroes during the ultimate will be converted into HP. So you can't just slap minions or creeps and heal like nothing happened." — Elgin
Ruby (nerf)
- Spell vamp ratio reduced, and the maximum spell-vamp ratio at low HP is also lower than before.
- Ult bonus scaling 300 → 200 (Kazuki) — reverts the 2.1.78 damage rebuild.
- Still strong low-HP sustain; just no longer near-immortal in team fights.
Read: Moonton saw the 2.1.78 numbers were over-tuned and pulled them back before live. Argus is still playable — the active-ult -30% CD is a real upside and good ult timing is still rewarded — but the free farm-sustain is gone. Ruby stays a low-HP brawler, just not the unkillable version from 2.1.78. The 2.1.78 digest's "ban-priority candidate" read on both should be downgraded pending live numbers.
Roaming-tank durability sweep
The new content in this patch: a broad early-game durability pass across roaming tanks. Sources mostly agree on direction; exact stat splits aren't given on screen.
| Hero | Direction | Gist |
|---|---|---|
| Atlas | ⬆️ | Base HP, HP growth, base physical defense all up — tankier early, more comfortable engages. |
| Khufra | ⬆️ | More base HP, more physical defense, better magic-defense growth; slight HP-growth trim. Net: tougher vs both damage types over time. |
| Belerick | ⬆️ | Base HP + base physical defense up — survives early skirmishes better. |
| Gatotkaca | ⬆️ | Base HP + base physical defense up — more durable early, especially vs physical. |
| Akai | ⬆️ | Base HP up, HP growth slightly lower — net early-game durability buff for invading/peeling. |
| Johnson | ⬆️ | Base physical defense up — minor early-game durability. |
| Estes | ⬆️ | Base HP + HP growth up — survives dive better. A durability buff, not a healing buff. |
| Tigreal | ⚖️ | Stronger early durability (more base HP/pdef) but slightly weaker scaling later — flatter power curve. |
| Grock | ⚖️ | Less base HP, better physical-defense growth — softer early, scales better late. |
| Diggie | ⚖️ | Slightly softer early (less base HP/pdef) but improved HP + defense growth — less squishy late. |
| Hilda | ⬇️ | Base HP reduced — weaker early invade/bully pattern. |
| Khaleed | ⬇️ | Base HP reduced — early trades less forgiving. |
Source note: Elgin frames Akai as an adjust (HP up, growth down); Kazuki frames it as a straight buff. Net effect is an early-game durability gain either way.
Other hero changes
| Hero | Direction | Gist |
|---|---|---|
| Balmond | ⬆️ | Spin damage increased with better HP scaling — hurts more on tanky/jungle builds. (Kazuki attributes the increase to S1; Elgin to S2 — sources differ on the skill slot.) |
| Aulus | ⚖️ | Passive maxes Fighting Spirit at 4 stacks instead of 6 (faster ramp). Trade-off: ult no longer grants control immunity during the wider slash — the commit is less safe. |
| Harley | ⬇️ | S1 card damage lowered at all levels. (The live 2.1.61 build cut Harley S1 specifically around mid-game; this AS change is at all levels — Elgin.) |
Controls & system
- Skill-wheel size option: the skill cast wheel size is now adjustable in settings.
- Release dead-zone: a new dead-zone setting — release the joystick inside it = auto-cast; release outside = manual cast. Aimed at reducing accidental misfires on skillshot heroes.
Kazuki's video also runs through 2.1.80-window cosmetics (S41 first-purchase Angela, Zhask S41, Johnson Starlight "Midnight Pursuit", Joy Street Fighter skin, Kimmy Sacred Statue). Those are tracked in the skin-reveals roundup and the collab digest, not here.
Aggregate read
2.1.80 is a correction-and-content pass on top of 2.1.78:
- The big read: Argus and Ruby — the two heroes everyone flagged as ban-priority candidates off 2.1.78 — get pulled back. Argus loses free farm sustain (ult heals off heroes only) and ~35% of his passive base damage; Ruby loses ~33% of her ult bonus scaling. Re-evaluate both at live numbers; the 2.1.78 ban-priority read no longer holds as written.
- Yin is the new thing to watch. An un-interruptible ult (suppression aside) is a categorical buff to a hero whose entire counterplay was CC'ing the pull. If this ships near as-is, Yin is a real ladder/draft factor.
- Tank durability sweep quietly raises the floor on the entire roaming-tank pool — good for front-to-back comps, mildly bad for early-game bully tanks (Hilda/Khaleed).
- Masha, Hirara, and the support mana-economy pass from 2.1.78 are unchanged — see that digest.
Anti-heal stays mandatory (Argus and Ruby are weaker but still sustain heroes).
